What Are the Ventilators?

A ventilator is a gadget used to place air in and take it away from the lungs of a person when he is not able to breathe normally and even when he has a respiration problem at a high level. Mostly someone needs a ventilator when he is retrieved from an operation while he is in operation theater or even when he faces any severe disease or illness. In all these circumstances, the ventilator proves as a lifesaver. It is also known as a mechanical ventilator. Because of it, a machinery system is designed to deal with patients.

Importance of Ventilators

If you are living in a polluted or dirty environment where you inhale unnecessary chemicals in your lungs, which is an excellent source of lung cancer, so in these circumstances, a ventilator is proven to be your best friend. A person with respiratory or breathing diseases feels much better on a ventilator because it helps him or her to breathe normally without making much effort for it. It provides an essential amount of oxygen.

It is a reliable way to stop the blockage in air passage or prevent a person from developing lung diseases. And promotes the mechanism of breathing or respiration. With these, a mechanical ventilator has many other benefits as you never need an attendant to take care of yourself for all time; it can measure your blood pressure, heart rate, glucose, and oxygen level in the body.

Types of Ventilators

There are two most important and defined types of ventilators.

  1. Negative Pressure Type

It is the type of ventilation system in which air is inhaled from the surrounding into the air passage by shrinking or dilate the breast cavity. Put high pressure on the breast of patients means to fasten the patient to take breathe forcefully.

  • Positive Pressure Type

Impel the oxygen into the bronchi to breathe normally. Fulfill the patient’s need for oxygen using an artificial process or artificial instrument, devices, or tubes. Place or puff the outer air into the respiratory organ. There are also two subparts of positive pressure ventilator as,

  • Invasive

A pipe connected with ventilator machines is added or put into the lungs through the mouth or any other passage by making a hole. It may difficult for many humans to put themselves entirely on a bed with oxygenated machinery.

  • Non-invasive

There is no type of machine included in it. Noninvasive is a type of mechanical ventilator in which external instruments are used for proper respiration. The patient can easily manage this type of ventilation because it is easy to wear a mask than leaving in a ventilated device.

Conclusion

Ventilator work as a treatment for normal respiration and breathing mechanism. Some patients need a ventilator for a short time, but some need it for an extended period as for comma patients. Ventilators in hospitals mostly use for emergency or ICU situations to save a person’s life by giving them oxygen at an average level.
